The 5.7-liter HEMI provides 395 hp and 410 ft-lbs through an excellent 8-speed transmission. The eTorque system ($2,295) adds 16 hp and 130 lb-ft of torque, which really helps with fuel economy but only if you have a light right foot.
5.7L hemis from 2005 to 2008 are known to drop valve seats. The heads were revised in 2009, so it's not an issue with later engines. My 2007 5.7L dropped a valve seat at 129,786 miles, which destroyed the motor. My engine had never overheated, and had never been abused in any way.
The recommended engine oil for 5.7 Hemi is MOPAR manufactured 5W-20 oil. Mopar oil for engines is a hugely recommended engine lubricant for 5.7 Hemi. Mopar oil will always be the recommendation of the manufacturers for all the cars manufactured by Chrysler Automobiles. Mopar is also the best oil for the 5.7 Hemi Charger.
The 2500 5.7 Hemi came with a 3.73 or 4.10 gears. The 4.10 gears are best for towing duties. Also the '04 5.7 hemi is down on power compared to the new gen 5.7 engines so don't expect it to keep up with a Diesel or new gen truck. My 1st 5th wheel trailer was a '84 26' 8600 gvwr actual loaded weight was in the 7200-7600 lbs range.
2019. Engine. hemi 5.7. For reference, here is why you won't notice a difference between 3.21 and 3.92. This chart has the RPMs both trucks will be at, at 65 mph. If your truck (3.21) was in 6th gear holding steady at 65, then with the 3.92 it will be in 7th instead (the blue cells); but note the RPMS, 2191 vs 2194.

The 27' 5th wheel we looked at was about 6000#. So empty we were about at 60% capacity. The 2500 CTD is at 17980# towing is at 33%. My thinking is that even with the 1500 getting better gas to start with but since it was working harder, it would be getting worse towing than the 2500 towing the same. On long road trips at a steady cruising speed of 75mph (ish) I can get into the 20's, but city driving kills it. Also noted I disable the MDS system (eco mode) every time I drive my truck by using the manual gear
